Provides Forté Users with Superior Repository-Based Reporting Environment

provider of application development solutions, today announced Report Workshop for Forté®, a repository-based reporting environment for the Forté Application
Environment™.
Report Workshop for Forté is a report generation and management tool that leverages the Forté architecture to implement
distributed and server-based reports Report Workshop for Forté is a repository-based
reporting environment developed using the Forté 4GL, Forté TOOL™. The repository
stores all the information about the reports, their structure and other related
information. The repository can be stored in any RDBMS supported by Forté.
The Report Workshop has various components with a point-click interface for ease-of-use and quick generation of reports
such as Profiler, Designer, Scheduler and Viewer. Major features include:
- Categorization of reports,
- Central point to design, view and launch reports,
- Define Data Source,
- Easily switch between reports,
- Scheduling of reports and,
- Exporting the report data to multiple formats.
"We made the Designer Component easier to use and provided a richer user interface through enhanced controls
like Tab control, Tree list and List View," said Shekar Gunaseharan, President of Indus Consultancy Services. "We added HTML generation capability for reports created
with Report Workshop by using Forté WebEnterprise™. Report Workshop provides Forté users with a complementary report writing component for all their business needs."
Report Workshop for Forté is scheduled to be released in the second quarter of 1998 and will be initially available for
Forté and subsequently for Forté Express™.
With the optional report design tool, companies can create special reports to meet their unique needs. "Our standard report formats are designed to accommodate the most common and useful reports a company needs, and are so easy to create that an IT person is not required," Lane points out. "But we recognize that some users need unique data analysis. For them, the report writing tool is the perfect option."
