USGS BBS Data Entry and Web-based Management Interfaces Contract AWARDED to ICS
Paramus, NJ - December, 2003 - Indus Consultancy Service, Inc. (ICS) is pleased to
announce that it has been awarded the federal contract for the Development of Breeding Bird Survey
(BBS) Data Entry and Web-based Management Interfaces by the U S Geological Survey (USGS) Patuxent
Wildlife Research Center.
The BBS has accumulated over 35 years of data on the abundance,
distribution, and trends for more than 400 bird species. These
data permit the analysis of population trends and mapping of
relative abundance and trends at various geographic scales.
These data are widely used by researchers, federal and state
governmental agencies, non-governmental organizations, and the
general public for various management, research, and educational
purposes.
ICS will develop the web-based data management interfaces, data
entry interfaces, web quiz interface, and web-based data retrieval
interfaces to facilitate BBS data and program management by
national and regional coordinators, BBS participants, and the
general public in three countries: U.S.A., Canada, and Mexico.
Once implemented the site will support three languages: English
(U.S.A.), French (Canadian), and Spanish (Mexican).
This project will consists of six major components: 1) a web-based
data managers interface for national and regional coordinators,
2) a web-based and stand-alone data entry and review interfaces
for bird and stop location data, 3) a web-based public data
retrieval interface, 4) a web-based participant quiz, and 5) SQL
views, stored procedures, and queries for site administrator to
manage all database tables and data. Sites will also meet all
USGS and CWS visual identity, section 508, and web/IT security
standards.
